My Computer

Good Computer, Bad Computer.
My computer boots up fast, then it stops to work.
My computer works for hours, while the heat sink is melting.
My computer is fast, when the virus scanner isn’t.
My computer remembers all, the next day it forgets all.
My computer I adore, but it doesn’t care for me.

The Mechanic

Squeezed beneath the vehicle, we find our hairy mechanic!
Now we worry because he’s swearing, and in a panic!

A favourite moment.

An early morning flash in time.
Makes me feel so sublime.
Out walks my nephew ready for school.

The Lost Marbles

My father is forgetful, he loses things all the time.
It creates such a ruckus because he says he’s very careful.
It’s not his fault, it must be one of us!

He’s always so sure where it was, never does he doubt.
They must’ve been taken and left someplace about.
Why he keeps them I’ll never know, it’s a toy for boys after all!

Lots of times we search for hours at an end and often
While we search he would be the one that finds them.
Then demand from us to explicate!

It’s not fair I tell you, it’s not right, blaming us for his misdeeds.
But this time is the worst by far, for once more they’ve been mislaid
And father is truly puzzled, as only he was home today!

The Bed Cinema

Daddy told me to go to bed, but he doesn’t know.
I don’t mind, I love the places I visit throughout the night.
Clouds and dreams are more fun in any case.

As I drift off, Slumber land falls into shadow.
My personal cinema complete with fun and games.
Every night I find a different show.

Transported to dreamland the fairy dust takes hold of me.
How does one say it again….? Up, up and Away!!
Even the birds seem slow as I pass them in the sky.

Not once have I been lost, I always found my way.
All I have to do… is too close my eyes.

Solaris’s Messenger.

“Oh how lovely the sky seems to me” an elfin girl declares.
Standing on her tip-toe she salutes the fleeing sun.
At long last her lingering wait almost completed it is.
Low in the sky she spies her friend the lunar bowl creep up.

Risking once more her father’s reproach she has stayed out late tonight.
“It is all for a good cause!” she says out loud very determined.
She made a promise you see, and she always keeps her promises…
…and this is what she says.

“Lunar brother a message to you from your stellar sister I have,
…bequeathed to you another astral voyage she has,
…yet the same pledge she asks as always from you.
…Shine bright oh brother, shine bright!

…Lest the little one’s begin to fear the dark… shine bright!”

Friends Forever

Now isn’t it funny how nothing mattered before we met?
Did you ever think that life was gonna be this way?
And yet I’ve never met someone just like you…
…Funny things seem to just happen around you!

It’s like you’re always stuck in mud and out of luck.
Ruff and tuff and all the gruff whacked you overhead.
Now you're broke… your jobs a joke… and you're all alone.
Earl Grey… the tea lady… near you no one is safe.
So your gonna cry but never fear cause I’ll be near.

I’ll be there when your day starts out cold.
Or when you’re outside in fear and your day ends in tears.
Like I’ve been there before…

…Cause you’re there for me too!

THE GLARE

How dare you defile our life’s once more sinner of sins!
Did we glare out at you? Well answer us! Did we? No!
You still think yourself above us all don’t you!
All high and mighty you supposedly are…
…Gmmf!

You might have got them to name us after you,
You even got them to name a ‘god’ after yourself!
Such an ego should not be allowed to gather strength.
Know that we shall never bow down to you.
My kind are not fooled so easily…
…Old one!

We shall watch the sky and bide our time,
For we are far spread throughout this world,
Wherever you go in our time we shall follow,
Never shall we waiver from our duty…
…You shall not win!

So be forewarned, stand down from your high perch,
Admit to defeat at the petals of a supposed inferior,
You might even be spared to lead a life of…
…Servitude and strife.

For we have brought about your death-call today…
… and we are called ‘Sunflowers’.

The wrong time to be a South African

Anywhere in Gauteng @ midnight outdoors on your own.
When you can’t smuggle beer into a rugby game.
When you apply for a post in America & they ask you what affirmative action is.
When you whistle at a blond on the street and she turns out to be a he.

When you are in England and they start talking about cricket.
When you are in Australia and they start talking about rugby.
When you are in Germany and they start talking about soccer.
When you are in Greece and they want to know what biltong is.

When the Rand finally stops falling and stabilizes @ R25 to £1.
When the petrol increases on every 1st wednesday of the month.
When talk turns to World Cup ’99 rugby or cricket.
When it rains for 2 Days in Durban and all you can think of is the beach.

When your meat and braai is ready, your last match broke to light the fire…
…and Hansie isn’t answering his phone to fix it.

Cloud

Oh cloud high in the sky,
how I adore you.

Why have you so many shapes?
Is it to fool the birds?
Yet they seem not fooled…

Is it to hide from the North Wind?
Yet he always finds you…

Oh cloud high in the sky,
if only I could fly as high!

My Precious Dreams

At night from heavens gate the air breathes life into my soul.
“Awake, awake… come play with us…” the darkness calls to me.

Darkness Bright and light as a feather I go to play …
…forever in my dreams
…forever at the gates’ of Heaven.

…Won’t you play with me?”

Geeseisees

Out of the wide blue yonder the gander goose strode…
…happy as can be.

Hello, small one! said the farmer…
…who was standing on the side of the road…

…Quack!! Said the goose that thought it was a duck.

Well I neva… said the farmer and promptly walked off…
He didn’t want to say that he couldn’t speak…
…Geeseisees!!
